Accredited Courses

Accredited courses enable you to gain a Level 2 Qualification in Planning Activity, Reminiscence Therapy and/or Dementia Care.

We offer a 3 day training course per module with us at The Counting House. Each module stands alone as a qualification, however gain all 3 and become a Creative Activity Therapist – a CAT!

A course over 3 days leading to a qualification. Develop a clearer understanding of dementia through practical and theoretical exercises and research.
Course Aims:

  • To understand what dementia is
  • To understand key features of the theoretical models of dementia
  • To know the most common types of dementia and their causes
  • To understand factors relating to an individual’s experience of dementia
  • To obtain an NOCN award qualification in Dementia Awareness, addressing both the theoretical and practical aspects of dementia

Course aims:

  • To understand how activities can provide therapeutic benefits
  • To understand how music can be used as an activity
  • To understand how art can be used as an activity
  • To understand how drama can be used as an activity
  • To understand how horticulture can be used as an activity
  • To understand how to support activities which focus on the senses
